PINPOINT Study: Gaming Technology to Engage Adolescent Sickle Cell Patients in Precision Pain – Phase II
The Sickle Cell 101 research team in collaboration with study investigator have reviewed this information to ensure it is patient-friendly and accurate.
About the study
Pinpoint is a phone and tablet app that helps young sickle cell patients assess, manage, and talk about their pain. The goal of this study is to develop a final, effective version of the app. We are looking for teens, ages 13-17 years old to participate in this virtual research study and assist with the development of Pinpoint.
The teen will be asked to use the Pinpoint app for up to 12 weeks and complete surveys at 4-week intervals for up to 16 weeks. Parents will also be asked to complete surveys at the same time as teens. No travel outside the home is required. Both teens and parents will be compensated for participating in this study (up to $130 for teen participant and up to $50 for parent/guardian of teen)
For ethical reasons, we must first speak with the teens’ parent/guardian before enrolling them in the study.
